Since the end of the 14th century, this type of candlestick has been used to decorate state rooms, especially in southern Germany. The fashionably dressed lady carries the coat of arms of the city of Ochsenfurt. The chandelier originally hung there in the council chamber and was sold privately at the end of the 19th century.
