This is an incredible set of altarpiece fragments; in the little hamlet church of St. Peter & Paul’s of Detwang, just in the shadow of the very touristy Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
The carvings were originally part of a larger altarpiece from another unidentified church, but the smaller church here in Detwang only had room for some components. See the illustration below for a reconstruction of the likely other parts.
This piece is located in Munich’s Bavarian National Museum, the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum.
