This unknown bishop portrait originally stood in the Burgebrach parish church. The photographs do make it seem weirdly compressed - because this figure is actually out of proportion!
This sort of extremely-human portrait of an old man is a characteristic subject of Riemenschneider. See for example his other bishop portraits: Rudolf von Scherenberg in the Wurzburg cathedral, or the Seated Bishop at the Met’s Cloisters collection in New York.
